Ten Questions for Warren Hill

1. How old were you when you first started playing?

13 yrs old, guitar & singing

2. Who was/is your biggest musical inspiration?

It's too hard to list only one. Initially it was RUSH and Led Zeppelin. Once I started getting more into saxophone at 17 it became David Sanborn, Michael Brecker, Cannonball Adderly, Grover Washington Jr. During college I became a Pat Metheny junkie :)

3. Where do you make your home?

Los Angeles, CA

4. Do you have any pets? (please tell us names and breeds)

2 Chihuahuas, 2 Himalayan cats, 1 Conyer bird (Olivia’s)

5. What is the best concert/gig you have ever done?

The most memorable was opening for Natalie Cole 3 nights at Radio City Music Hall in 1992

It was my first tour as a solo artist

6. What is the best concert you have ever attended?

U2 Joshua Tree tour in Hartford Connecticut, circa 1987/88?

7. Do you have an all-time favourite song?

That is tough. Stairway to Heaven is up there, mostly because it was my first real study of music when I was about 11. I analyzed the theory, and it made me practice a lot to master it on guitar and vocals.

8. What musician would you still most like to work with?

Living - Pat Metheny

Deceased - Miles Davis

9. If you weren't a musician what would you be?

Unemployed – ha-ha!

I was originally supposed to be an aerospace engineer - I went to University of Toronto for 1 year before going music school at Berklee.

10. What is your favourite thing about Vancouver?

I love the landscape, mountains and ocean right together and the proximity to great skiing like Whistler.

The city is also so nice because there are so many different little “scenes”

Stanley Park is another amazing perk!
